A 17-year-old boy has been charged with burglary and theft after allegedly stealing from unlocked motor vehicles. According to The Asbury Park Press, the juvenile was arrested at Route 35 and Strickland Boulevard in Chadwick Beach. Officials say they were looking for the teenager after a convenience store security camera recorded a young man attempting to enter a vehicle. Officials then found 10 GPS devices, two iPods, a camera, three knives, four flashlights, surf wax, and a longboard. They believe the teenager was responsible for over a dozen thefts that occurred over one week.
According to New Jersey Code 2C:18-2: “A person is guilty of burglary if, with purpose to commit an offense therein or thereon he: (1) Enters a research facility, structure, or a separately secured or occupied portion thereof unless the structure was at the time open to the public or the actor is licensed or privileged to enter.”
