Virginia Police Issue Thousands of Summonses Right Before Memorial Day Weekend

The Virginia State Police operated a 2-day traffic safety program as part of their Operation Air, Land, and Speed program between May 23, 2010 and May 24, 2010. Troopers focused on specific areas of State Interstates 81 & 95 and were able to issue thousands of citations for both reckless driving and speeding. More important than citations, however, is the fact that while troopers were patrolling, not one fatal traffic accident occurred.
