Do you have attorney-client privilege with your Atlanta DUI lawyer?
Anyone who learns facts about your case could become a witness against you, whether that person wants to testify or not. Except for attorneys. They are excepted from this rule because of something called “attorney-client privilege.” This means any communication you have with an attorney is just between the two of you, even if you don’t hire that attorney. The court cannot force an attorney to “tell on you,” except under exceptional circumstances. What kinds of circumstances are exceptional? If you and your attorney are planning crimes, or fraud– that would be an exceptional circumstance.
