Authorities in Belleville, Illinois appear to be taking a “no prisoners” approach to enforcing the prohibition on operating a “motor vehicle” while under the influence of alcohol.
Responding to reports of a main driving erratically down a street on a riding lawn mower, law enforcement officers reportedly turned on their lights on attempted to pull Dennis Cretton over, but he kept going, police said, veering off the roadway and into his front yard. When he veer off the roadway, however, police reported observing a 12-pack of Milwaukee’s Best Ice (surprising?) tumble from his mower.
Cretton was subsequently charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol — after he admitted to driving the lawnmower to the gas station for lottery tickets and beer.
And why was he driving a lawn mower to the gas station? Apparently, his driver’s license had been suspended for a previous D.U.I. conviction.
